Homeschooling Your Kids?

As the upcoming school year approaches and the nation continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, many public school districts have already announced they’ll continue with distance-learning programs, either full- or part-time. Many parents will struggle to balance their careers with the prominent role required in their child’s remote learning throughout the school day.

As a result, parents are suddenly exploring a variety of options — from homeschooling their kids themselves to forming small co-ops with other quarantined families and hiring a private tutor — to gain more control and best educate their children. Alas, it will be neither cheap nor easy.

The average cost of homeschooling ranges from $700 to $1,800 per child per school year, according to Time4Learning.com, an online resource for homeschool families. This includes the cost of the curriculum, school supplies, field trips and extracurricular activities.
