Abundance? Me? Celebrate? Did your inner voice immediately react to this affirmation by listing all the financial challenges you’re facing? Did you quickly veer away from the present moment, zigzagging between past and future scarcity? I don’t have any “extra” to save for retirement! We have so much to be thankful for, but we often fixate on what we don’t have or what we think we “have to have.”
For some people this statement “I celebrate the abundance I have right now,” may cause you to have a knee jerk reaction, arguing for your limitation and lack. Trust me, none of those pathways leads to greater abundance. Instead, I invite you to shift your thoughts toward gratitude, appreciating all that’s already present in your life. This made me stop and give thanks for all that I currently have, like my excellent health, family, friends, running water, electricity, warm home, plenty of food, beauty in the fall colors, fine wine.
Dr. Robert Emmons, a psychology professor at the University of California, Davis, found that those who actively practice gratitude enjoy major psychological benefits along with scientifically measurable physical results. These include:
- Stronger immune systems
- Fewer aches and pains
- Lower blood pressure
- Better sleep
So I encourage you to celebrate your abundance, and reap the benefits. If you’re having trouble figuring out how to budget, or pay bills and save, contact me and let me show you how. https://lindalingo.com/
